We have some new products in the works and I thought that you might enjoy understanding the process.
My favorite part is the beginning - this involves sitting quietly and witnessing what comes into my "mind's eye".
Next, it's time to paint! Maybe it's because of getting older, but I usually skip the pre-drawing stage. Just going for it feels more fluid. I don't fully know what I'm going to paint from one moment to the next.
This design is called Côte d'Azur. It will be produced as a new tea towel as well as a mini clutch bag.
Côte d'Azur was painted as a collection of icons, which were then scanned into the computer. The white of the paper is removed and each icon has its pixels cleaned up in Photoshop. Each icon has its own layer, making it easy to move around. Once the placement feels harmonic, a background color is chosen and I get my file ready for production. Ta da!
One more sneak peek of my new Olive Dance. This is the same kind of process.
More coming soon!
I have a serious objective for recognizing nature's beauty and all things that make me smile. So much in nature inspires me and I hope that I'm able to share that joy. Wishing you many moments of appreciation for this miracle called life!
